David "Old_Man_FPV" Mills -- Bowie, TX
I saw my first drone race on September 11th 2016 and couldn't get from the field to the hobby store fast enough to purchase my fist BNF quad. Which in hindsight, I probably should have asked a few more questions and gotten something that wasn't junk, lol! But that first day I managed to get in the goggles and stay airborne for longer than 3 seconds was the beginning of this amazing journey of flight! I co-founded a MultiGP chapter out of Denton, TX with my good friend and fellow pilot Casey "Quadaholic" Reeves in March of 2017. After running races the rest of 2017 and moving up the chapter to Tier 2, we teamed up with the Northeast Dallas Speed Addicts, a local Tier 1 chapter, and formed Dallas Drone Racing, a premier racing chapter in Texas. We have been successfully holding major events all of 2018 and '19 while constantly improving our equipment, field, and ability to give pilots a great race. At the end of 2018 this amazing thing called X Class peaked my interest and I ran with it. In January of 2019 we formed the Texas X Class chapter and have held giant drone races ever since. In June of 2019, I joined the Catalyst Machineworks team to help further the X/Beast Class program and continue our quest to make giant drone racing mainstream. But none of this would be possible without with my lovely wife, Michelle Mills, supporting my passion which is drone racing and my kids for putting up with daddy's nerdy hobby. Love those guys...
